If you’re a local business, you need a way to put your foot on the throat of your competitors and grow the way you want to. The best way to do that is to become a household name in your local market.

30 years ago, you might have been able to do that by buying some radio time and running a campaign on the air. But now, the way to grow your business is through digital marketing, and there are 3 key steps to thrive in the digital world:

1. Get Your Messaging Right.

Every successful local business I’ve ever talked to had a unique way that they take care of and talk to their clients.

The brand message you have in the store needs to be in your advertising. That’s done so you don’t sound like your competition or the big franchises in town. Your ads need to sound like your message and reflect what makes you successful!

2. Use An Omnipresent Strategy Campaign

You can’t rely on just one channel for attracting clients. An “omnipresent” campaign uses every possible outlet: Google, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, content networks, geofencing, etc.

All these different manners of reaching people finds them when they’re at different stages of the search process, and it’s how you build trust and become the name people remember. The frequency that people see your business over and over again is key–you’ve got to be everywhere with your digital marketing.

3. Have The Appropriate Budget

I’d love to tell you that you can have a small budget and get big results, but that’s not the norm. You can generate some leads on a tiny budget, but if you really want to become a household name in your local market, that’s going to require some money.

By having an appropriate budget for your campaign, you’ll be able to cover multiple channels and do it well, so that you’re right there when people are in the market for what you’re selling.

Those are the three key steps you need to become a household name: get the message right, use an omnipresent strategy, and have an appropriate budget. Keep these three things in mind, and your ad campaign will be firing on all cylinders when it’s time to go live.
