It’s like the stars aligning to send you a message.

My wife and I treated ourselves last weekend to a mini-retreat of Hawaiian LomiLomi massage and spiritual work.  Now, if you’re asking “what’s LomiLomi”, you’re not alone. I asked the same thing 6 months ago when I did it for the first time.

Lomi is the Hawaiian word for massage, but traditional LomiLomi practice is so much more than that. It’s an ancient healing practice handed down for generations on the black lava fields of Hawaii. You can’t even learn it unless you spend a month there living in a tent.

Lomi works to lovingly massage your body which clears up the muscle tension associated with energy blocks. This form of deep healing goes beyond the physical experience, touching on the emotional and spiritual self as well.

In other words, you not only work out the kinks in your muscles, but the kinks in your spirit as well.

Sounds amazing, right? But what in the hell does this have to do with business, or marketing an upscale business?

Our Lomi therapist Cuky is no ordinary Lomi practitioner. She’s a legend within the Lomi community and has studied with every one of the Lomi masters in the last 40 years.

Cuky explained a key Lomi philosophy which explains why it’s such a powerful experience:

“Emotions move muscles. Muscles move bones.”

Every day I work with businesses who struggle to move their customers…struggle to connect with them, move them past price objections, to help them see their dreams fulfilled.

They never reach their prospects on an emotional level.

Everything stays on the surface.

What’s the rate? How long does the process take? Just give me an estimate I’ll get back to you.

These are all indicators that your customer is commoditizing what you do and shopping around.

Upscale or luxury purchasing decisions are made with emotion and justified by logic. Not the other way around.

If you want to charge a premium price for your product or service, your marketing must reach people at the emotional level. They have to see themselves enjoying the outcome you deliver, or perhaps avoiding the outcome you prevent.

If you never get to that level with them, prospects will just ask what’s the price.

So start your week by channeling in a little energy from the ancient Hawaiian healers who knew that the way to move people was to first reach their emotions. You’ll be glad you did!
